Dr. Dhaval Bhavsar
Dr. Dhaval Bhavsar is a burn and plastic surgeon who joined our group in 2010. He received his medical degree from NHL Medical College in India where he completed residency training in both General Surgery and Plastic Surgery. He received certifications for these specialties from The Medical Council of India. After completion of his training in India, he joined The University of California - San Diego as a visiting scholar and pursued basic science research in the areas of wound healing, burn and flap perfusion.
He completed a 2-year clinical fellowship in Reconstructive Plastic Surgery from UCSD where he improved his skills in managing complex reconstructions and use of biologic and biosynthetic skin substitutes. Additionally he also completed a fellowship in Burn Surgery from UCSD Regional Burn Center, where he received training in management of complicated major burn injury patients, both adult and pediatric.
He is a member of American Burn Association and Plastic Surgery Research Council. Besides his busy clinical practice, he is interested in looking for better ways to treat his patients through basic scientific and personal research discoveries. Dr. Bhavsar has published manuscripts in many internationally recognized journals in the areas of plastic surgery, burn, basic science surgical research, surgical infection, and telemedicine. His published research is cited extensively in the peer reviewed literature. He has also reviewed multiple manuscripts for top ranked medical journals.
Dr. Bhavsar is especially interested in complex burn reconstruction, facial reconstruction, surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation, and difficult hand injuries.
