Dr. De Souza is pleased to be back in her home state of Kansas, serving as Assistant Professor of Plastic, Wound, and Burn Surgery at The University of Kansas Hospital, where she began her career in patient care. She performs reconstruction and cosmetic surgeries, and her areas of special focus include breast reconstruction, aesthetic breast surgery, facial rejuvenation (surgical and non-surgical), and body contouring.

Dr. De Souza received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from The University of Kansas and graduated from The University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2000. She completed General Surgery residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry/Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey. Concurrently, she devoted one year to the pursuit of research pertaining to vascular and transplant surgery.

After her General Surgery training, Dr. De Souza completed an additional residency in Plastic Surgery at The University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. In Miami, a Mecca for cosmetic surgery, she also became interested in facial and breast reconstruction. Following completion of her plastic surgery training, she moved to Charlotte, NC to become a fellow at the esteemed Hunstad Center for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. During that time, Dr. De Souza refined her cosmetic surgery skills. Her experience in fellowship subsequently took her back to Miami, where she worked exclusively in the field of cosmetic surgery. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Dr. De Souza has dedicated time to her strong interest in research throughout her training and career and her work has been published in The Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, The Journal of Trauma, and The Clinics of Plastic Surgery, in addition to an online tutorial in the Plastic Surgery Hyperguide. She was recently awarded a grant from the Center of Excellence for her academic pursuits.

Dr. De Souza holds professional memberships in American College of Surgeons, Kansas City Society of Plastic Surgeons, and Women in Medicine and Science, where she serves as the Delegate for the Department of Plastic Surgery.
